Are you reading this?

Hey, I want to take some time to let you know what this blog is for and why we are doing this. Well, I have found that there is tremendous value in working in a collaborative manner. Everything I have learned about business, videography, personal training, and guest services has come from someone else. The mindset of being self taught is a silly one. None of us are self taught unless we live in a vacuum.

Some of my favorite books that have helped me in this Guest Services world are

  • How to win Friends and Influence People - Dale Carnegie

  • Unreasonable Hospitality - Will Guidara

  • Lead Like it Matters - Craig Groeschel

These books are full of things simple concepts, that if followed, will forever change your outlook on serving others. Pastor Craig, founder and lead pastor of one of the largest churches in the world. Dale Carnegie mentor to thousands personally, and millions through his almost 100 year old book, how to make people feel valued. Will Guidara helped make front of house recognized as one of the most crucial parts of a 5 star dining experience. Between these three men there is a wealth of knowledge and wisdom packed in these books.

Now let me give you a little history. My name is James Cooper, and I am the Guest Services Director for The Father’s House in Vacaville, CA. I have the privilege of leading a team across multiple campuses in multiple cities. Our team totals about 450 right now and is growing.

I am blessed to be married to my dream girl since October 10th 20210! We have 5 kids and have a healthier marriage than ever. We lead 2 marriage small groups. I have owned a media business as well as a sports rehab business in the past, currently my wife and I own a CrossFit gym, and work full time at our church. We live a full life and love it.

My family and I have been a part of this church since October 2017 and have loved every second of it.

Check out these books for some huge insight. Start your “self taught” journey today.

Be Blessed,

James Cooper
