Greeter Roles

Our Goal is that EVERY single person gets waved to, a verbal hello and a smile by at least one of our greeters.

To avoid feeling robotic or disingenuous you can wave at a few people and then skip a person knowing someone else either already has or will wave at them as they come in.

That being said the whole goal is that, not a single person is missed or doesn't get a wave. We have heard stories of people coming up to some of our captains and team leads and have shared how sad or offended they were that we didn't wave at them but waved at someone else. We have also heard the opposite, that people have had their lives changed forever because someone waved or held a sign that said "welcome home." This is important. This matters.

Greeter Lead

The role of the Greeter lead is truly impactful. Our goal is to reach the greeter team where they are at. Pouring into people is a huge part of what you do.

The Greeter Lead is someone capable of running teams efficiently All while having a heart for our Greeters and a desire to keep things running smoothly and efficiently.

The Greeter Lead is a wonderful mixture of a welcoming personality and a great task juggler.

You are in a role where training team members in the TFH culture is paramount.

Weekly tasks

  1. Text or call people by Friday if they have not responded to the greeter request.

  2. Make contact on the day of with all of your team members

  3. Assign people to the spots that you want them.

  4. Communicate with the Captains when problems have been solved or ask for their help if it is too big of a situation.

  5. Train any new team members

Parking lot Greeters

  • Parking lot Greeters are here to help our first time guests and every week members be filled with excitement and anticipation.

  • These greeters should be grouped in two's, always. This is a fun opportunity for families to serve together. The Napa campus does this really well.

Breezeway Greeters

  • These greeters often hold signs, wave and smile. Breezeway greeters are brave the elements a bit and that makes people feel extra loved, when its swelteringly hot or raining sideways.

  • It is their job to make people feel welcome. Remember that some people don't get any physical touch on a day to day basis so a high five from you can be life changing.

Lobby Greeters

  • Greeters in the lobby are focused on caring for the environment that is the lobby. This role changes quite a bit as the service progresses. We go from greeting waving, handing out communion to guiding people to the bathrooms.

  • Lobby Greeters, along with our captains and Greeter leads will ensure that the doors on the lobby side are opened after the ushers open the auditorium side.

  • Open and close doors at the appropriate times

  • Manage umbrella bags

  • Help the facilities team with being aware of when we need to mop if their is a spill or a lot of rain coming in on people shoes.

  • Manage the atmosphere of the room by not talking loudly during the sermon in the lobby. If talking must occur than having it outside or in a quiet manner slightly away from the lobby.

  • Remember that some people can ONLY be a part of church from the lobby.

Family Room Hosts

This role is almost like a ministry in and of itself. I think it is crucial that we understand that this role is not just a place to sit and be distracted.

This role has a lot of responsibility. As a Team Lead or Captain when selecting people to be in this role you must select a person that fits a few criteria

  1. Strong leader

  2. Soft heart

  3. Prayerful

  4. Humble

The person in this role is often someone that would make a good Greeter Lead. They usually would be someone that focuses on solving problems before they even come up. They have a heart for kids but aren't so gentle they get taken advantage of.

People need prayer in the family rooms. They are feeling God's presence even though they are in a space that is louder, more distracting and isolated then the auditorium. So we need to be able to spot those people out and be able to direct them to the prayer team up front in the auditorium.
