What is that, a bright sonburn from the Lord?

Can you imagine, just looking at where God had been that your face was shining after he went by? Moses didn’t even look directly at the Glory of the Lord because he would have surely died. Oh you know, that whole “perfect, sinless God cannot be around sin” thing. Can you imagine being in His physical presence soaking up His goodness? It says that whenever Moses went in to speak with the Lord he would remove the veil and his face would shine.

I beg of you, never to grow accustomed to the glory that comes upon us when we are soaking in the goodness of God. Take it seriously. Honor Him for what He has done in your life. And where He is taking you.

29 When Moses came down from Mount Sinai, with the two tablets of the testimony in his hand as he came down from the mountain, Moses did not know that the skin of his face shone because he had been talking with God.

Exodus 34:29

Man I hope people see my face shining on Sunday. Not because I pridefully want them to know that I spent time with the Lord or that didn’t put any sonblock on when talking with Him, but because I want them to receive the benefit of what God can do in their lives. And our examples can do that.

Here is a great connection to a story. I like a show called Chefs Table on Netflix. It is about some of the best chefs the world has to offer. There is an episode where the subject chef, we will call her Jill, said that when she was growing up she only saw women that looked like her in particular kinds of jobs or roles in society. But one day she finally saw a woman, we will call Sue, that she could relate to working as a chef and her eyes were opened. That is what I want for you. I want you to be like Sue the chef that inspired a young Jill to do what she was always capable of. So I hope your face shines like Moses’ face did. I hope it inspires others to want to be in the presence of the Lord.

18 Moses said, “Please show me your glory.”

Exodus 33:18

How did he even get here? “To the shining face James?” Yes, to the shining face. That seems like quite the leap. Well the answer is he ended up in this glory filled place, 1. because he asked. And 2. because he had already been pursuing the Lord.

So pursue Him and the path He has laid out in front of you. That way you too can have that Holy sonburn.

Serve Like Jesus!

James
