Take action
“He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much…” Luke 16:10
When we take action in our life we are far more likely to keep the systems running smoothly.
Let’s take your own car for example. If your car is dirty and you have some trash from a fast food meal in your car that you forget overnight things might start pilling up. One little choice to not throw away trash today often results in the inability to keep a clean car afterward. But as soon as you take it to the car wash, vacuum it out, wipe down every surface how much easier is it to keep clean? Because you put so much work into it you are much more likely to keep it clean, and so are any of your passengers.
There are countless examples like this in our lives, your bedroom (I have a pile in the corner I need to take care of), being off from work and not shaving (it feels good to be lazy), not working out today so we eat a pint of ice cream (I have been there).
The way we look at our campus needs to be with the understanding that taking care of the little things is actually going to make the big things easier to manage. Don’t be scared to embrace picking up little pieces of trash as you see them rolling across the parking lot, or finding that sticky spot on the ground and either going to wipe it up yourself or asking for help from one of our facilities team members. You are way more likely to inspire other people on the team or even just normal church attenders to keep this place looking beautiful. And you know what when we are faithful with the little, it is easier for the whole to be taken care of.
