Be in Awe of His Glory

It is so easy to get swept up in the doing of things that we forget the reverence of the whole thing. That Jesus DIED for US. He died so that we don't have to. So that we would end up with everlasting life.

1 Peter 1 starts off with Peter talking to the exiled ones that were all over Asia and the Middle East. It is 5 or more depending on how you look at it, verses just acknowledging how powerful and loving God is.

He did not hold back, he did not skimp. He seems to still be in awe about the whole thing.

Really this whole chapter he is talking about the amazing nature of Jesus and God the Father. We cannot forget that there were and still are people that are persecuted for following Jesus.

What a blessing that we get to follow Him in everything. Don't overlook the fact that our "faith is much more precious than gold that perishes..."

A great true story that I heard from my Evidence Study Bible. A rich man had a portrait of his son made before the son went to war. Unfortunately the son was killed in battle and the father soon died afterward. At the request of the rich man an auction was to be held for all of his riches.

They were all on display but one specification was that the portrait his son must be auctioned off first. No takers at first. Not even any interest because this was not some famous portrait it was just a portrait of a young man. But the butler knew that his boss had loved his son so he bid a very low price for that portrait.

Just then the auctioneer stopped the auction because the rich mans will stated that whoever loved his son was to inherit all of his wealth. This is a depiction of our relationship with the Lord. Whoever loves Jesus shall inherit his wealth (the wealth of eternal life).

So we are to love Him. Revere Him. Honor Him. Not simply to inherit His wealth but to grow closer to Him.

As we serve think about the fact that He has done SO much for you. That He sees you and is where you need Him to be. He is ALL powerful and ALL knowing and yet loves us so much that He won't get in the way of our choices to destroy ourselves. Because He knows the best medicine is love through submission.

Guys, I love you. I am so grateful for you. God has a plan for you. Ask Him to reveal it to you.

Serve Like Jesus!

James
