Fret Not, Refrain From Anger
Fret Not
Paslm 37 is a beautiful chapter that shows us the great and easy to understand contradictions.
God wants us to delight in Him, trust Him, He wants to give us the desires of our heart. We need to “fret not”, “refrain from anger” it just says to sit in a peaceful mindset, relying on the Lord. How easy is that for you? “Sure James, I will just flip that peaceful switch and be all good.” No it is much more difficult than that I am sure. I have had to work on this, even with people running red lights lately.
I have 5 kids and when I am in the car I drive safely, I don’t speed anymore, I am very aware. And lately I have seen SO many people running red lights, and not an accidental red light run. I am talking the kind where the driver says, “Oh I have been at this intersection 43,026 times so I know I can get away with this” kind of red light running. The kind that could blast someones car sending one or both of them to the hospital. My first instinct is to call them a mean name like “cotton headed ninny muggins”, but I don’t speak like that in front of my kids. So instead I am working on saying, “oh man that person really needed to get where they are going” And throw up a little prayer for their safety and those around them.
I let it go rather than holding onto it. Man has that helped a lot. Is what they are doing safe, right or acceptable in any way? Of course not. But what good is it for me to get up in arms about something I am not going to be able to fix. I will not be chasing that person down. And I almost always miss their whole license plate number. So I choose to refrain from anger. I choose to fret not. Instead I trust Him and delight in His ways. Instead I get the desires of my heart which is to focus on the Lord and realize prayer time is so much more important and effective of a response for that person.
Honestly that is a blessing.
I hope you can carry this through to your ministry time here for Guest Services, for any groups that you lead or are a part of, and for your family life. You are a blessing. I hope you know that. Delight in Him
